Various folktales revolve around Nakki Lake, a popular attraction in Mt Abu approximately 32 kms from Abu Road (App 1 hr). Apart from different folktales, it is also believed that the ashes of Mahatma Gandhi were immersed in Nakki Lake during his last rites in 1948, and Gandhi Ghat was constructed. The lake is the first human-made lake at the height of 11,000 meters. Bheru Tarak Dham is a temple in Pawapuri, surrounded by hills with a 4 km trekking route laid out on the mountain behind bhairu tarak temple. Pawapuri is at a distance of about 59.2 kms from Abu Road which could be covered in an hour and 15min. Then there is Jal Mandir, meaning a “temple in the water,” built-in white marble within the water tank; the tank measures 84 bighas (One bigha is 5 acres, the area is 16.8 acres). The water surface of the lake is covered with lotuses. This architecturally elegant temple in the form of a “Vimana” or chariot has the footprint of Mahavira for worship. A 600-foot-long (180 m) bridge built in stone connects the temple with the bank of the water tank. The temple shines bright and sublime during a moonlit night. The pond has many species of fish that priests and devotees feed.

The temple is believed to house the footprints of Dattatreya, and devotees feel blessed by it. There is a massive bell on the peak with the inscription 1411 A.D.
